Thanks for responding.
1) Some of the images are from June of 2018, and some are as far back as April of 2016
2) I texted these images to myself to make sure I’d always have them in case they were deleted from my photo album. I took the images on my phone initially however.
3) iOS user. I have an iPhone 6s
4) I believe iCloud since I’ve never connected my phone to my laptop. I will try that though and see what happens.
5) I do not believe I backup my text messages. This issue actually began when I was about to upgrade my phone and was worried about losing old text messages so I checked the box in my settings to include my messages as part of the backup. I never did upgrade my phone, but it’s then when I started noticing this issue. It started with a few photos/videos and has grown to more since.
6) Yes, I’ve tried that but nothing happens
7) Great question...let me check. So I just checked a message where someone sent me some images back in April of 2017. The images were not showing, but it said “Tap to Download”. I tapped each one, and all of them are now displaying the same “JPEG-Image” icon/thumbnail.
So it seems to me that when I decided to include my messages in the iCloud backup, that process did something and now I don’t have access to those pictures. I’m afraid to check the box again to include messages in my iCloud backup, but I will try connecting my phone to my laptop to see if that does anything. I’ll always await your response in hopes that you have a solution for me. Thank you again!
