Video Landscape mode

When I turn my phone sideways to watch video it no long changes position to use the whole screen.

iPhone Xs max crops video in landscape mode In the last week or so my iPhone Xs max, iOS 12.4.1, has started cropping TV video in landscape mode. It displays the full frame in portrait mode but crops a bit off the top and bottom of the frame when turned to landscape. It always used to display the full frame in landscape. In landscape not all screen space is used and the cropped frame is pinned to the top of the screen. A double tap on the screen expands the width of the frame to the width of the screen, but it stays pinned to the top of the screen and the top and bottom remain cropped despite available screen space. Going to zoomed mode did not influence the crop. Looking for suggestion on how to get the phone to display full frame TV in landscape mode.

How to lock landscape mode in iPhone iPad has landscape mode lock, but iPhone only has portrait mode, I have iphone 8 plus ios 12, assistive touch cannot work for locking landscape mode. I want to watch web video lying down side way with locked landscape mode. Anyone can help?

Probably it is locked to rotate. The two pics below will tell you.
