Unable to delete FaceTime Call history

When I try to delete call history in FaceTime, it all just returns again, even if I restart before reopening FaceTime.

So, is this another functionality Apple has decided for us we really didn't need, or is there some trick to it?

Okay, hopefully, the following method will work for you.

  1. Make sure that FaceTime is shut down.
  2. Navigate to the "CallHistoryDB" folder. You will find it in your Home Library, in the "Application Support" folder.
  3. When you get there, delete the three files that you see listed below:

~/Library/Application Support/CallHistoryDB/CallHistory.storedata

~/Library/Application Support/CallHistoryDB/CallHistory.storedata-shm

~/Library/Application Support/CallHistoryDB/CallHistory.storedata-wal

You might be able to delete the fourth file called "com.apple.callhistory.databaseInfo.plist" as well, but I would leave it there for now.

You might want to log out of your account, and then back in again, or even reboot your machine from a cold start, before launching FaceTime again.

Again, please let me know if this is helpful, or if it resolves your issue. Thank you.

Is this when you select "Remove all Recents" from the "FaceTime" menu? Or are you right-clicking each entry in the actual FaceTime window and deleting them that way?

Also, is the device you are on synced with other devices? If so, this could possibly be the source of your problem. In other words, you may have to remove the calls from the other device first.

Please let me know if this is helpful, or if it resolves your issue. Thank you.

My friend, I can't help you more if you don't answer my questions more clearly and provide more details. Can you please clarify whether or not your MBP is synced with any other devices where those same recent calls might be listed. Do you use iCloud?

Have you attempted to log into your MBP in Safe Mode, and then tried to delete the recent calls that way?

I also have the suspicion that the recent calls may possibly be stuck on an iCloud backup somewhere.

Hi mcolommena.

Click anywhere on your computer screen and the top 'task bar' will have "Finder" on it.

Click on 'Go' and a drop down menu will open, click the 'Option' key on your keyboard and you will notice that the 'Library' command will show in the "Go" drop down menu.

While still pressing the 'Option' key, click the 'Library' command and your library will open.

You can then follow WordWeaver777's suggestions, they worked for me.

Hope this is helpful.
