What model iPad do you own?

Your signature shows iOS 10.

The ONLY iPad that can run iOS 10 is an iPad 4 ( 4th generation ).

Many iPads models STILL to this day, only have a very poor 1.2mp front facing selfy/FaceTime camera. Sufficient for FaceTime video calls. Not too good for shooting/taking images.

The rear facing camera on an iPad 4 is only a 5mp camera without flash. So, you need plenty of light to get good images using that camera.

The back camera is the one that is going to give you MBs value images, NOT the front camera.

There is no way to change the resolution quality of either cameras on an iPad.

The camera resolutions are what they are.

If the images are only KBs, that is because you a taking an image with the low megapixel FaceTime camera.

No way to change the quality of that camera. The image resolution is fixed.

Try amd use the rear, back camera, instead.

That is the much higher megapixel ( mp ) camera to use.
