Apple disables old devices!

What is Apple hinting at?

On March 12, my iPhone 6s warranty ended, I would never have remembered it, if on March 14 my iPhone would not ask me to upgrade from ios 12.1.2 to ios 12.1.4, its argument was cellular disconnection. I didn’t have a choice and I decided to update it, after a successful update my iphone refused to activate. The official service center offered to replace my iPhone with a new one, since the repair required replacement of the motherboard, and the warranty period has expired. It seemed strange to me such a coincidence, apparently Apple hinted to me to replace my old iPhone with a new one.

Who faced a similar problem? Maybe all this is not accidental, and Apple deliberately disables old devices.

Before upgrade:

Settings> Cellular

To use cellular data on this iPhone, you need to update it.

After update:

Activation failed

To activate the iPhone requires an update.

I’m not the only one who suffered from this problem, the exact same situation is described here: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/250226775, there are many reports of similar problems, and for iPhone 7 there is a special program https://www.apple.com / support / iphone-7-no-service /, but I can't find such a program for iPhone 6s (((
