iMac 2011 is asking 4-digits PIN. Have never set PIN. Don't have any other Apple devices.

Ok, that would be a System lock PIN code. That would mean that this Mac was locked remotely using the Lost Mode feature of Find My Mac. It may be possible that you are in possession of a lost or stolen Mac.
I’m just letting you know what that 4-digit PIN code is all about. Someone has access to it via their Apple ID or it is still associated to that ID. I suggest that you contact that person to have them remove this device from their ID. Good luck!

Thanks for your comment. I bought this machine 6 years ago from the original owner and I doubt he has locked it.
Anyone who sees the files in it will be able to confirm that there are hundred of documents with my name since 2013.
