Partitioning issue after failed Bootcamp setup

I just installed a 1TB SSD drive and installed macOS Mojave. I started Bootcamp and went through the process of installing Windows 10. It failed on the part where you It asked where I want to install Windows. I selected the bootcamp partition and it failed. I rebooted back into Mojave and it had a partition as untitled. I went back into Bootcamp to delete the partition but got an error (can't remember what the exact error is). I'm trying to go into disk utility and delete the partition but its not letting me. I get an error that the operation failed.

When I try to go back into Bootcamp, its like it doesn't even see the partition. I tried booting into recovery mode and try the same steps, but it wont let me delete or combine back into 1 partition.

Much better.

Run

  • Step 1

In your specific case, given the current state, try

diskutil eraseVolume jhfs+ BC1 disk0s3

diskutil eraseVolume jhfs+ BC2 disk0s4

diskutil mergePartitions jhfs+ BCMP disk0s3 disk0s4

diskutil list

  • Step 2

If you see only disk0s3 as the last entry under disk0, then run

diskutil eraseVolume fat32 BOOTCAMP disk0s3

and retry removing the partition using BC Assistant only.

7. I already had a bootable windows ISO USB drive and Downloaded Latest windows support software

Did BC Assistant erase/format and build the Windows Installer? Is this a USB2 Flash drive?

.
12. Clicked next and received an error about needing drivers.

If BC Assistant did not build the installer, you will be missing Apple-specific Windows drivers.

13. Rebooted back into macOS Mojave and saw there was a new hard drive "Untitled" showing on my desktop. I went to Bootcamp to remove the partition and start over.

It became an APFS container.

Bootcamp didn't see the partition and was going through like a new setup. Now what's happening is when I try to open Bootcamp it crashes

and I can provide exact commands needed.

Below is the output of the the diskutil list and the steps I did when trying to install windows with bootcamp.

  1. Removed old 1TB SATA Hard drive
  2. Installed 1TB SSD drive
  3. Booted to internet recovery
  4. Installed macOS Mojave
  5. macOS booted and working fine
  6. Went to Applications>Utilities>Boot Camp Assistant
  7. I already had a bootable windows ISO USB drive and Downloaded Latest windows support software
  8. Partitioned 120GB for space
  9. iMac booted into the Windows setup
  10. Got to the part in windows where it showed the drives.
  11. Formatted the Bootcamp partition (there was a message saying windows couldn't be installed on the bootcamp partition)
  12. Clicked next and received an error about needing drivers.
  13. Rebooted back into macOS Mojave and saw there was a new hard drive "Untitled" showing on my desktop. I went to Bootcamp to remove the partition and start over.
