Pressing volume keys after mojave update causes crash, resulting in logout.

Every time I press one of the volume control keys (mute, volume up, volume down). My screen goes black after a few seconds. Then the login screen opens and I have to login again. I can still adjust my sound volume in the settings. It's just the buttons that don't work.

Can anyone help me? This is really annoying.

I have already tried resetting my NVRAM, resetting my SMC, I did the "sudo killall coreaudiod".

Nothing seems to work. I've done many google searches, but no results.

I have resolved the issue. I had an outdated audio plugin from Razer. The moment I deleted it, everything worked just fine.

I've already tried First Aid. What exactly do you mean by reinstalling? Do you mean a clean reinstall? Because I don't have a backup yet.

Nowhere did I mention clean install.

If your macOS is corrupt you can refresh the OS by reinstalling the macOS on top of your existing macOS.

This will leave all user data untouched. Always advised to have a backup plan in place.

3-2-1 Backup Strategy: three copies of your data, two different methods, and one offsite.
