DVD on a MacBook Air

I just got a new MacBook Air and I bought an adaptor that plugs in the Mac that has a few USB slots. When I plug my Apple DVD I get a message saying I need external power which I do not have. How can I play DVDs on my MacBook Air? Do I need a new DVD player or another type of adaptor?

Is there a way to play DVDs without having to disconnect everything else. I would rather not have to buy a powered player, because I don't need MORE wires and plugs, but would buying a powered drive with the old rectangular USB connector make it possible to play it plugged into my 4-USB adapter. Or would the expensive Apple multiple USB connector work?

DVD hook up to MacBookPro I just purchased a Apple USB super drive to watch a home DVD movie. I also have a apple SATECHI connector that helps me to plug other things into my laptop. The DVD uses a USB connection which the SATECHI has. But the message I ge is "connect apple USB to a USB port on this Mac. also the USB accessory needs power. I have tried all the ports for the SATECHI connector but nothing changes with the message.

Will Macbook Pro 2019 recognize Apple's external DVD (Superdrive)? I've seen this question asked, but the answer did not answer it. I've seen online that it requires two USB ports to power the DVD player. This Apple thread pro states that all is needed is an adapter. That does not work. The DVD player makes a little sound, but is not recognized. On my 2015 devices, it works. Will it work or not on this 2019 Mac?

Connect the SuperDrive directly to the MacBook Air’s USB port.

It's an older Superdrive with the older USB connection. The Mac has the USB-C so they don't fit together
