my ipod 7 wont sync music and i already reset it and deleted and reinstalled itunes

like it is pretty old and it will sync up to itunes but whenever i try to add music myself it would seem like it's syncing but it wont add any of the music into its library and ive already reset the ipod itself and reinstalled itunes as well yet it still does this

With all that resetting and re-installing, I think iTunes is simply seeing your iPod as a new device, in which case, you need to set some Sync options in order to get any music onto it.


  • Connect the iPod to the computer and when iTunes sees it, click on the iPod icon:



which then shows the Device/Settings/Summary pane, which looks like this:



  • click on Device/Settings/Music (1.) in the picture below:



  • Make sure that Sync Music (2.) is ticked
  • in step 3., choose either:
    • Entire music library - which adds all ticked songs to your iPod
    • Selected playlist, artists, albums and genres - which opens up section 4.
  • if you chose selected playlist, artists, albums and genres, you then select the items you want from section 4.
  • click the Sync button (in the lower right corner of the iTunes window, see second screenshot)
  • when the sync has finished, the two arrows above the battery icon will change to an eject button. Click the eject button
  • disconnect the iPod from your computer


That's it. Does it work? If not, at which point does it go wrong?
