What do the battery charge icons on mac os x mean?

It seems that there is a lot of different battery functions being displayed in the battery icon on the menu bar. Black battery white lightning bolt, white battery white lightning bolt, and variations of that (including the dreaded X). The color of the battery means something and the color of the lightning bolt means something else. Is there a diagram that explains ALL the possible variations in this icon?

I did see that discussion. They show a black battery with black lightning bolt and a white battery with a black lightning bolt. I did not see an explanation of black battery with white lightning bolt and white battery with white lightning bolt. There appears to be some differentiation in the color of the lightning bolt. I think this lightning bolt color means something else not explained.
