I recently digitalised family photos on my Mac and copied them onto a flash drive. 3 of the people I sent the drive to had no problems but 2 did. One has a Mac and the other has a PC. (They are both over 60 - could have something to do with it - but them so am I). Any thoughts on what they might be doing wrong? I have copied the files onto a flash drive here and can open them without a problem.

How was the flash drive formatted? If it was OS X Extended (journaled) then the two Mac users would have no problem with it but the PC user would not be able to use the drive.

The person with the PC might be seeing the meta-data files that MacOS creates and normally keeps hidden from you. Tell them to try to open the files without the '.' in front of the filename. For example if they see img1.jpg and .img1.jpg, they should only try to use img1.jpg.
Are you sure you sent JPEGS? You did not send them heic's, did you?
Yes, RIMG is the prefix. They are all JPG files. I have found that if I email them as a Windows friendly file they can be opened on a PC. As there are only 22 of them, I think I can send them this way. Thanks for your help.
The .RIMG extension is an obscure image file: RIMG - file extension = Radium Renderer HDR Picture Image. I have no idea what app would open it.
The other extension is .disc which is a Toast project file extension. It's not an image file extension.
Thanks Keith. The photos were from a number of different sources and had different prefixes. DISC, IMG, and RIMG. The RIMG seem to be causing most problems. They were from a digital camera. I will pass on your suggestion about the '.' and see if that helps.
I thought "RIMG" is the prefix part of the filename and not the filename extension. If it is a filename prefix like "IMG", the images may have been taken with a RICOH camera. RICOH is using RIMG as a filename prefix, perhaps other manufacturers too.
I have not been sure myself, since Keith has been asking for the image format. The filename suffixes/ extensions would have told us more about the image format. But many users are hiding the filename extensions.
Ricoh cameras is just a hunch. I never have used Ricoh cameras, and there are only two models on the RAW support list.

The files are: RIMG0316.JPG for example. I think I can email them so will solve it this way. Thanks. She seems to be able to open all the others. Whew!!
