How do you turn off an alarm on iPhone XS when it's unlocked or in use without snoozing it?

When the phone is locked, the options to 'stop' and 'snooze' are visible. But, when my phone is unlocked, I've only succeeded in snoozing the alarm. Then I go into the clock app and swipe the alarm off and back on. I have multiple alarms set daily to get my students to their specials, pull-outs, etc. So, this happens multiple times during the day. I know that I can disable the snooze feature but, I would like to still be able to use it on occasion. Thank you for your help!

iPhone XS, iOS 12

When the white 'alarm' notification appears on the screen, touch it and pull down and it should give you two options; snooze and stop.
