"SIM NOT VALID" error in iphone 6 after SW updation to ver12

Hai All...

Since I updated My iphone6 IOS to ver. 12 in Jan 2019, an error "SIM NOT VALID" is dispalyed at the final stage of updation (Phone Activation stage)

If the SIM is removed I can use the iphone without network with Wi-Fi.

I cleared and erased all the settings twice and restored thru iTunes.

I even replaced and inserted other working SIMs on my iphone, but same error message.

" sim not valid : Sim card that you currently have installed in this iPhone is from a carrier that is not supported under the activation policy that is currently assigned by the activation server.

This is not a hardware issue with the iphone. please insert another sim"

I could use different carrier SIMs earlier. My iphone is factory unlock.

Network Signal is displayed when I insert any working carrier SIM.

I`m really getting frustrated, and I request you to kindly advice me and give an option by which my phone can be activated.

Thanks & Regards

Sonu

Note : Checked the following

Active plan with your wireless carrier.

Latest version of iOS.

Restored from previous recovery.

Check for a carrier settings update.

SIM tray closes completely and isn’t loose.

Thanks for your reply.

As you mentioned ,,, it is hacked illegally and unlocked, then how come it was not re-locked to its original carrier while on

2-3 updated earlier and only on IOS 12 ?

Actually I sold my earlier iphone and exchanged and bought this from a gulf national on assurance that it was factory unlock.

Is there any option now?

Anyway I liked your word .... "symptomatic of a phone"

Dear Mr. KiltedTim,

Thanks for the info.

As mentioned, I had bought my iphone 6 from an Arab national in Dubai and he told me he had used it for

2-3 months only. There is no way I can contact him now.

I had also used 3 different carrier SIM`s in this mobile in the past 2-3 years and I had updated the iOS twice

before iOS 12, without any activation problem earlier.

Apple ID and password for this mobile was created by me only.

I would also like to know ... Can we update a carrier locked iphone?

I would appreciate if you could please tell me how I can find out the carrier with whom my phone is locked.

Updates may not always require re-activation after installing. When one does, you'll find yourself in the situation you're in now.

Updating a carrier locked phone is not a problem if you are using the carrier it's locked to.

Updating a 'hacked' or jailbroken phone will result in the device re-locking to the original carrier in many cases.

If you don't know what carrier it's locked to, call AppleCare and give them the serial number. They should be able to tell you.

Thnx Mr. KiltedTim for a speedy reply....

I had spoke with AppleCare, and narrated the whole story and the misery I`m locked in with now.

They told like... they have no access with the carrier`s and hence can`t find out the first carrier.

They asked me to contact the first owner and get details of the carrier from him..... which is not

possible now, since I`m have already left UAE.

Thx & Regards

Deat Mr. KiltedTim

Contacted Apple care....... No Solution from them, they can`t find out the original carrier, if there is one.

Is there any other possibilities, by which we get the same error message???

I would highly appreciate... if you could tell me any solution to unlock my mobile....

Thanks in ADVANCE
