iPhone 6s mic issues - low quality audio

Hey everyone, I've been having issues with the audio recorded by my iPhone 6s when recording video. It sounds like their is a filter removing all high frequencies, making it muddy and unclear. The audio is like this whether recording from the rear facing camera or front facing. When I record only audio with my audio recording app iTalk, it is clear and bright.

I've taken it into a 3rd party repair shop and they told me they can replace the mic for $80~ but since it happens on both front and rear video, I'm not sure if it'll fix it altogether. I've debated buying a new iPhone 6s on eBay and selling this one, but if I can diagnose the issue and fix it affordably, that would be preferred.

Here is a clip I recorded today of me playing guitar. Audio starts off as fuzzy, then quickly clarifies before returning to the land of fuzz. What do you think I should do?
