iPhone 7 microphone problem

Hello,

I reported a microphone problem after a os update in my iPhone 7. I got some emails, and calls from apple support. The person who called me from apple support mentioned to me that I would get a new iPhone 7 as replacement and he told me that I would be contacted to get instructions. Almost 4 months ago and nobody has called me.

What can I do? Could you please advice?

thank you

Thanks for the answer! Well I’m disappointed. The person who called me when I first reported this issue, he said that I will get a new phone. I don’t know what was his interest on promising something false. I have lost a lot of time, and I don’t think it’s nice to pay for something that stopped working after a sw update.

Hello,

well, i tried everything, updated now to 14.4.1 And same problem. The microphone is not even recognized. If i connect a wireless headphone it works.

This issue is well known by apple, I’m not the only one having this problem. This happened after updating to 13.3 in my case.

As I mentioned before, I reported this in October 2020, the support guy called me and promised a replacement for me. It’s annoying to be wasting time making useless efforts to make it know when apple knows it will not work.

I think it’s unfair to make me pay for the repair. The phone was working perfectly before the update. I reset the phone, installed latest iOS.... but still same problem.

It broke during an update not because of an update. Like an elastic band breaks only when you stretch it. Not because you stretched it but because it perished.

If it broke in Warranty it is free, if outside warranty it isn't. That is the way of the world unless you live in UK (possible EU too) in which case you have 6 years to make a claim, with years-of-use deductions if you win the case.

Yes you will get a replacement. Apple do not repair microphones. It may not be free though, but it probably will be at a discount.

Or you can try a 3rd party high street phone butcher.

Well... what a disappointment. How that can be proved? As a user what I experienced is that the microphone problem was after the update, as well as many other users. If there is a way to install a version lower than 13 the micro may work again. There is actually kind of workaround consisting in opening the camera app for a given mime and then the micro works for a while, which strongly suggests this is a software problem.

and I repeat that a support agent from apple called me and promised a replacement phone. I can post again the case number and the name of the agent can be easily found. I’m in Europe yes, and my phone is not in warranty anymore.

i would expect a more adequate answer rather than excuses to avoid responsibility.
