Apple Watch 4 suddenly recorded Move and Exercise I didn’t do

I’ve had my Apple Watch 4 for about a month, and have had no issues with it until now. This morning it recorded 35 minutes of exercise that I did not do. There’s no workout recorded, but the move ring has increased for no reason as well. I have done all of the steps that are normally recommended, such as check my vitals and make sure all of the categories are turned on for calibration. I have also rebooted both my phone and my watch. I am not sure how to delete that exercise, and what to do moving forward.

No it doesn’t. And with out knowing what was happening when you had the Watch on we will never find out. You can delete the exercise minutes from your health app. A reset may help. Press the crown and side button in until the Apple logo. If still having issues unpair your Watch. Or a visit to your local Apple store may help

Nothing in particular was happening when the error occurred. I was moving, but in a normal fashion with minimal effort. I’d like to try and address this without resetting and deleting a months worth of data

You don’t need to delete a months worth of data. Only the minutes you didn’t move.

All right, I did that - thank you. It deleted all the minutes for the whole day, rather than just the erroneous ones, but it’s better than nothing. Any clue as to why this happened in the first place, out of the blue? And how can I prevent it from happening again? Do I need to reset the watch and reinstall the apps?

Unpair you Watch and repairing it will not lose any data. Before you do back your iPhone first. Then when you repair you can choose new or from backup. As for why the data occurred it could be when you move your arms it will register it as a move and exercise. So waving your arms around or walking will add to move and minutes

Like I said, I’ve tried all the common recommendations for problems with the watch. I calibrated it when I first got it. That doesn’t account for the sudden error.
