How do I turn on two-factor authentication on an Apple ID? The instructions given here say only how to turn it on on my live iCloud account. That’s not the same thing.

Apple Support by e-mail or chat Work through the screens to get a chat option. You may need to pick a problem that is slightly different than yours to get a chat option.

Are you using a different ID than you use to sign into iCloud and iTunes?

For iTunes, I use an ID that I set up many years ago when I was still using Windows. For iCloud, I use an ___@iCloud.com address. For Xcode, I use an ID associated with my LLC. None of these can be changed without enormous effort.
