Cannot sign in to Apple TV app purchased by family member/sharing

My son purchased/subscribes to CBS All Access via family sharing. When I try to sign in on Apple TV (or my iPhone) using his credentials, I receive the message that the user name + password do not match. However, when I sign in to iCloud using the same credentials, there is no problem. That particular app is a monthly subscription and is current. Any ideas?????

Subscriptions and in-app purchases normally can’t be shared through Family Sharing.

Secondly, his CBS All Access subscription is perhaps not payed through iTunes, but directly to CBS. Then it would be not linked to an Apple ID, but only to an account with CBS.
