Mac Pro (Mid 2010) power on issue

I have a Mac Pro (Mid 2010). It doesn't start when I push the power button. However I can turn it on through this procedure:

  1. Push power button once and release immediately just like normal. at this point, the mac doens't start.
  2. push and hold power button for about 4 seconds until I hear a click sound.
  3. I then push the power button again and the mac start booting like usual.

Also, when I put the mac to sleep and then try to wake it up, the power light is on but the mac won't be turned on.

Can anyone help?

Thanks.

Mac Pro

The clock battery may need replaced. Have you tried the SMC reset?

Instructions before 'actual reset' are ones to try in order of appearance.

How to reset the System Management Controller (SMC) on your Mac - Apple Support:

Another reset (NVRAM/PRAM) may or not be helpful. See link in SMC.
