Mac Pro (Mid 2010) power on issue

I have a Mac Pro (Mid 2010). It doesn't start when I push the power button. However I can turn it on through this procedure:

Push power button once and release immediately just like normal. at this point, the mac doens't start.
push and hold power button for about 4 seconds until I hear a click sound.
I then push the power button again and the mac start booting like usual.

Also, when I put the mac to sleep and then try to wake it up, the power light is on but the mac won't be turned on.

Can anyone help?

The clock battery may need replaced. Have you tried the SMC reset?

Instructions before 'actual reset' are ones to try in order of appearance.

Another reset (NVRAM/PRAM) may or not be helpful. See link in SMC.

Did you also replace the Long Life Lithium coin cell battery if it measured less than 3 Volts?

You can use the readily-available CR2032 (used in garage door opener controls and car-key fobs) instead of the hard-to-find BR2032

after you put in a new battery, the PRAM can remember. But what it remembers may still be junk.

Be sure to do a PRAM Reset at some point.

If this Mac is used for mission-critical work, you may want to source a replacement power supply. Also, be sure that your Backup is on an External drive, not one in a bay (on the same power supply).
