You may want to enable the option to show the file type "Raw or Jpeg" as an overlay on the thumbnail.
Go to the View menu, then click "Metadata" and enable "File Type". You will now see a "j" or "R" on the thumbnail of your photos, telling you, if the Raw or the Jpeg is currently selected as the original file.
To switch between the Raw and the Jpeg as the master open the image in Edit mode. In the editor go to the "Image" menu. You should be seeing either "Use RAW as Original" or "Use JPEG as Original". If you you want to see both versions side by Sid, duplicate the pair and switch one of the duplicates to Raw, the other to JPEG.
