My MacBook Air got virus because of using an unsafe website in order to watch some free movies.

What should I do?

1. Use  the latest release of MalwareBytes for Mac to remove malware/adware.


    Install guide:       https://support.malwarebytes.com/docs/DOC-1817

    Uninstall Guide:  https://support.malwarebytes.com/docs/DOC-1190


    Click the blue “Scan Now” button. Once done, quit Malwarebytes for Mac.


2. Disable all extensions and test.

     Disable or uninstall extensions you have not installed knowingly.

3. Choose a search engine.

     Delete all text in the Smart Search field, click the magnifying glass ,

then choose a search engine from the dropdown  list.

4. Set your Home Page.

    Shut down from  menu. Restart your Mac.

    Launch Safari holding the Shift key down.

If this doesn’t help, download EtreCheck, https://etrecheck.com/maspro  and post the report here.

      Click  “Click to download” button,

      Open Downloads folder, click on it to open, and then select ”Open”.

      “Choose a problem” from the popup menu box, and then “Start EtreCheck” in the dialog.

      Click “Share Report” button in the toolbar, select “Copy report” .

      Paste the report when you reply.
