Voiceover not working after update???

Trying to record a voiceover directly on FCPX and none of the mics is recorded: internal or my Rode AI-1 despite the fact they are all recognised in the menu and connected (recording got as expected in Quicktime, no settings or hardware changes in-between.

Restarted, launched a new project, nothing seems to work. I get an audio bar in the timeline but it's empty of all sound (increase gain, nothing)

Is that a FCPX glitch???
