Keynote: Images Placing as URLs

Hello -

I can't get images to drag directly from a website into Keynote anymore. They appear as text boxes with their URLs instead. I have to save the image onto my desktop and insert from there. I couldn't find any fixes for this issue and have tried restarting. Anyone else come across this?

Hi, cayuen,

Thanks for posting in the Apple Support Communities. If I understand your post, you're trying to drag and drop pictures from websites into a Keynote presentation, but when you do it just puts the link of the image instead of the image itself. I'm happy to help!

Per Keynote for Mac: Add and edit images in Keynote, dragging and dropping from websites without saving to your computer first is possible. Since it's not working for you, even after restarting, I'd suggest trying the following steps:

  1. Check for, and install, any updates for the macOS software and Keynote itself: How to update the software on your Mac - Apple Support.
  2. See if the issue continues in safe mode: Use safe mode to isolate issues with your Mac - Apple Support.
  3. Try in a test user: How to test an issue in another user account on your Mac - Apple Support.

If you still have trouble, don't hesitate to respond back.

Cheers!
