AirDrop No Longer Working (Tried The Obvious Already)

I have a 2018 MacBook Pro and an iPhone XS Maxx. I used to be able to AirDrop notes and documents between them but now my MacBook cannot AirDrop to any device anymore. My iPhone can AirDrop to my wife's iPhone and iPad but non of our other Apple Devices can be discovered via AirDrop on the MacBook.

I have updated my iPhone to iOS 12.2 and my MacBook has been updated to Mojave v. 10.14.4. I was briefly able to see my iPhone and shut my MacBook down for the night, the next day it couldn't find any device to AirDrop to again.

  • I've had both iPhones and MacBook to be discovered by Everyone, not just Contacts Only
  • Both the Bluetooth and WiFi are on on iPhones and the MacBook
  • I've tried toggling them off and on no fix
  • My Firewall is not blocking any incoming connections and my anti-virus software "Bitdefender" has the Firewall turned off as well
  • Personal HotSpot is turned off on the iPhones
  • The iPhone and MacBook are signed into with the same iCloud account
  • Both devices are well within 30 feet of each other

MacBook Pro 13”, macOS 10.14

I found the issue, when I have the VPN on my MacBook, the AirDrop won't work. After I turn off the VPN, then I'm able to AirDrop from my MacBook.
