sound locked on macbook air

when i try to change the sound it has a circle with a line through it at the bottom. on settings it says the laptop is on mute but it won't let me unmute it

i've tried resetting my laptop, putting it to sleep, done basically everything i can but nothings working. any ideas?

What if the mute box is checked by there's no option to uncheck it? There's no sound on my MacBook Pro. Also, the mute box in Sound is checked and I can't uncheck it! I just have no idea how to proceed.

Sound stuck on mute! Tried everything! My MacBook has suddenly stopped playing out sound through the laptop and through headphones. I’ve tried all the YouTube recommended videos of resetting the MacBook and deleting audio files but NOTHING is working. please help :(
