I need help connecting my USB SuperDirve to my MAC

I've trying to connect my USB SuperDrive to my MAC. I'd like to create a slide show on a disk. I'd also like to watch DVDs on my MAC

iMac 21.5", macOS 10.14

Be certain you connect it directly to a USB port. Do not use any type of device between the SuperDrive and the Mac's USB port.
