Why does MacOS want access to my gmail emails when i'm not using mail for my gmail account? There is no way to change the permissions its asking for either. I do not want to give that access when its not needed.

It seems like to have all apps work in conjunction with your macOS. you would want to enter at least one email address into internet accounts— it may not necessarily have to be your gmail.
Make that gmail inactive, unselect all those choices.

I encountered the same exact thing two days ago when I upgraded to 10.14.4. While it threw me off a little, I gave it permission, because I do have two Gmail accounts which I actively use. My only impression is that maybe that is the default behavior set by Apple. In other words, it noticed that you do have at least one Gmail account, so it automatically prompted you for the password for it . . . to make things easier for you, of course. :)
It's the internet accounts that's wanting access. But I'm only using it for calendar and contacts, not mail.
Keeps asking for my password but when I sign in, it now wants access to mail and more. And I'm not going to give it access but it keeps popping up and asking me for it.
I also don't get why a full safari app has to open when it has it's own popup window as well. Seems like an error in the coding on that part.
Not sure it matters.. but I have 2 google accounts on there.. I just don't think Mac needs to control my mail when I'm not even using their mail app. It never needed this access before.. you can get auth for google without that access.
Yeah and I just updated to 10.14.4 as well.. and I may just end up giving it access.. but I just want to know why it wants it when I'm not using their mail app.. thus it should never need to send an email from any gmail account. Unless it is for some other feature like emailing support or sharing various posts or content with others.. but it should make that clear.
