Restore deleted Person

If I have deleted a Person, how can that Person be restored?

Photos still show this person's face, but the face has become unnamed. If I begin to type the name, the correct name appears as a suggestion. When I choose that name from the list, the Person is still not shown on the People page. When I search for the Person's name, one photo which had been given that name is found, but no Person nor anything else is found.

I do not remember deleting the Person, but suddenly a Person is no longer listed among People. The only thing I can imagine causing a Person to disappear is Deleting, perhaps by accident. Is there anything other than deleting a Person that would cause a Person to disappear? How can I get this person to show up?

I found this while reading the iPhone user Guide (Find people in Photos on iPhone - Apple Support).

And it seems to be working the same in Photos 4.0 on Mojave.

Add a person to your People album

Open a photo of the person you want to add, then swipe up to see the photo details.

  1. Tap a face under People, then tap Add Name.
  2. Enter the person’s name or select it in the list.
  3. Tap Done.

Occasionally the Mac can do. the same things as the iPhone, but the manuals for the Mac do not describe it.

Thank you again.

I have an iPhone, but the iPhone is so small and difficult to see, much less enter data. I would not have thought to look there to find how to do things on my Mac, especially data manipulation or input, such as modifying the Faces database.

Good to know of an alternate place to look for hints, even if it does seem so counterintuitive.
