Books highlights don't get saved

Hi,

The highlights and notes I make in my books don't get saved. Every time I close a book they just disappear and all of the work is gone. Is there anything I can do about this? I read on my Mac and my iPhone and it's with all the books.

Apple Books PDF notes disappearing I have a PDF book imported in my Apple Book app on iPad. While reading it, I had some highlights and took notes there. Then I clicked "Share PDF" and opened the PDF in another app Nebo. Surprisingly I found that while the highlights are still there, all notes are missing! Then I went back to the Book app and cannot see the notes as well! How can I fix it?
