Photos Library Clones or Vaults (Time Machine for photos or why aperture is no more?)

one of the best things about aperture was the time machine-like future built in directly into the app, you could create live-updated and maintained clones of your aperture library or as this was named: "Vaults"

is there a similar feature in the new "photos" app?

or am I able to tell Time machine to back up the photos library, which is located on an external drive, to another external drive (not the TM one)?

will a synching app like Synkron keep the library copy functional and serve as a backup maintenance tool?

No.

No. It will back it up to the drive designated as the Time Machine Drive.

Probably. I'm not familiar with Synkron but I use ChronoSync and it incrementally backs up my Photos library (i.e. copying only those new or modified files) to a selected external HD. It can be programmed via its ChronoSync Scheduler to backup whenever I want it, i.e. hourly, when it detects a change in the original, when I boot up, etc.
