Airpods continuously flashing amber

No matter what I do, my airpods case continuously flashes amber. I have held the reset button on the back for a while now and forgotten airpods device under bluetooth settings but no prompt to reconnect.

Even when I did finally reconnect them, it still flashed amber which caused me to retry the situation again however my phone never prompts me to reset. These are the newer airpods and have had nothing but syncing issues since. I'm at the end of my patience with them if I can't figure out this issue I'll probably return them and try a different product..
