The content on my child's iPad is restricted. The Youtube app is not installed and Safari/browser access is restricted. iMessage is allowed. A friend sent my child a Youtube video in iMessage and it was playable. How can this be blocked in iMessage?
I honestly don't believe there is any way you can stop someone from sending a link to your child in iMessage. You can turn off iMessage. You can block individuals, but I don't think you can stop someone from sending your kid an attachment in iMessage. While the controls are pretty good in general, there's always going to be something that you can't fully control.
Perhaps a rule with your kid to never open any attachment without you being present? And consequences if your orders aren't followed?
This isn't just receiving a link from someone else... even if youtube is restricted on your child's device, they can search and watch youtube videos from within the iMessages app.
I agree about blocking links -- but we should be able to block content from being automatically downloaded and viewed. This is a bug with Content Restrictions in my view.
