Proximity Sensor problem when talking

My brand new XS Max has a really major problem that happens on just about every phone call - basically mid conversation, I'll either go on mute, put the call on hold or I'll hear the tone of keypad numbers being pressed (and when I take my face off the phone, it has indeed pressed several).

I started with a factory reset on my phone. Then I took my phone into the apple store and they completely replaced the screen on my phone. Nothing has worked.

Any ideas???

You can try a restore through ITunes as iOS May have become corrupt.

It May however be a hardware issue and the proximity sensor is unable to communicate with the phone. The Face ID sensors come in one assembly and need to be replaced, not just the screen. This is not your fault, you should be able to get a new phone under warantee.

Make sure you back up your data through iCloud as Apple may find it necessary to reset your phone while they are repairing it.
