Whenever I used the little screenshot app in Mojave to grab part of a web page, it not only didn't grab any image, but left a white window on the monitor. That means that whatever software I'm in, there;s a big white window. My only solution has been a time-consuming restart. I won't use it again...but does anybody have any help?

Boot into Safe Mode, Use safe mode to isolate issues with your Mac, and try the screenshot from there. Any difference? Reboot normally and try again.
NOTE: Safe Mode boot can take up to 10 minutes as it's doing some system cache cleaning, volume verifying and directory repairing.
