How do I CONNECT USB 3 TO THUNDERBOLT 2 using A1790 adapter on my iMac mid 2011? I read that even though it was designed to provide a Thunderbolt 2 port on a newer device using USB 3. But, since it is bi-directional the tech said it would work in the opposite direction. Anyone know why it is not working?

The adapter can connect Thunderbolt-3 devices to a Thunderbolt-2 (or Thunderbolt-1) computer. It will not work with USB devices, even if they use the USB-C connector. If you really want to connect USB devices to a computer's Thunderbolt-2 port you will need a Thunderbolt dock.
