Touch ID not working after iOS 12.2 update

Hi, updated software on iPhone 6 to iOS 12.2 today and now Touch ID doesn’t work. When I restart the phone it says ‘unable to activate Touch ID on this phone’. If I go to settings/Touch ID & Passcode everything is switched off. If I try to turn anything on it says ‘failed - unable to complete Touch ID setup. Please go back and try again’. What’s happened? How can I fix this? Thank you.
