I recently acquired a 2008 Mac Pro which was missing the side door. I got a Power Mac G5 side door with the Mac Pro. The side door fits and mostly works, but can be popped off without being locked. Is this normal when parts are interchanged between pre-2013 Mac Pro and Power Mac G5 towers, or do I need an actual Mac Pro side door?

If one looks carefully at the photo it seems the latch to 'lock' the side panel in to place is slightly higher on the PowerMac G5 (which is on the left) than the Mac Pro (which is on the right).
If so this would explain why you are having a problem as it is not matching up to the latch as there is a sufficient difference between the two side panels.
The Power Mac G5 and Mac Pros pretty much use the same case, as seen in this photograph below.
Based on that photograph, you can swap some case pieces between the G5 Power Mac and Mac Pro computers. I just ain't sure that the side doors are swapable.
Is it possible to swap Power Mac G5 and Pre 2013 Mac Pro parts?
