Is it safe to restart your iPhone when it’s updating?

My phone is updating and it first said it would take five days and now it’s stuck and has been saying three days remaining for the past four hours. Is it safe to restart my phone.

It depends in which point of the update process you are. If the phone didn't restart by itself yet (in order to complete the update), that means the update has not been completely downloaded. If it's not completely downloaded, then it won't start to update, since it's not verified as downloaded successfully. So...in my opinion, if this is the case, I would say yes, it should be pretty safe to restart your phone at this point.

Worst case scenario you might need to connect it to a computer and recover it by redownloading the update on your computer and installing it via iTunes and a data cable. So...it should be fine either way.
