iPad used in wall mount

I use a wall mounted iPad mini to control home appliances. I want to

do two things Firstly run a clock app after n seconds of inactivity. Secondly to revert to the home screen when I touch the screen or press home. Any ideas. I don’t intend to lock the device. Tks
