Are there any Iphones made by Apple for AT&T that cannot be unlocked because of a hardware configuration?

I have an iPhone 7plus that I am trying to convert to Boost Mobile from ATT. The Boost rep says the phone has a hardware lock to prevent it from being used with other carriers. Is this possible?

Since the carrier lock is being held by AT&T, you should be talk to them to find out if you qualify to have it unlocked from AT&T. Once you get it unlocked from AT&T, you should be able to use it with Boost.

Only in the sense that there is a CDMA and GSM version of the iPhone 7 Plus. You would need the correct one for use with Boost Mobile. I do not know which phones are which as far as carrier support but that is possible reason they said that. CDMA is hardware locked to the device but GSM uses a sim which is replaceable. You can use a CDMA device with any CDMA carrier.
