Apple watch series 4 battery drain about 15% per hour without any active app

I have an apple watch series 4 and the battery can only last for about 6 hours after a full charge. I went to the apple store to have it diagnosed but nothing was wrong with the watch(at least this is what I was told based on the diagnose result). Also tried send it to the repair center for deep diagnoses but they cannot find any issue with the watch and just sent it back to me. I've tried unpair/repair the watch, set it up as new watch without installing any app on it, turn off background app refresh on the watch, disable wake screen on wrist raise etc. but none of them solve the problem. Apple customer service said there mush be some background app refresh that is draining the battery since nothing with the battery is wrong, but they cannot fix the issue or point out what app it is. The watch is basically useless at this point since I don't want to charge it every 6 hours. Any help is appreciated.

@TygerMane Have you tried reinstalling both phone and watch as new devices? I started having this same problem after the last update. I tried all the troubleshooting steps, turning just about everything on the watch off (including the screen), no extra apps installed, and my battery lasted no more than 6-8 hours. I have AppleCare+, so they did an express replacement even though they said the battery tested fine. The replacement started doing the same thing once I updated to the latest watchOS. In desperation, I finally wiped and reinstalled my phone as a new device, then paired the watch as a new device, and I now have 40-50% battery left after 12-14 hours. I still have lots turned off and no extra apps installed, but the watch is more usable now. I'm hoping the impending upgrade to watchOS 6 helps with battery life.

I didn't have applecare, but would have refused to use one of my two incidents to cover this. I refuse to pay money to resolve a situation that Apple caused. Applecare if for when its your fault, warranty is for when its theirs. Assuming you were still under warranty.

My replacement watch is running perfectly using 5.2.1 and I refuse to update to the new OS. I don't think my original situation was related to a software update, but it seems other peoples situation are so I'm not going to take the risk.

Be prepared to have to jump through all their basic and insulting questions geared toward getting you to say that your situation isn't abnormal. Such questions include "well, how much battery life do you expect the watch to have?" "You know hat using apps and texting shortens battery life?"

Troubleshooting, especially over the phone, requires a lot of questions. Those questions, even though they may seem stupid to you, may uncover the small bit of information that leads the service person to the right answer. To ensure that they explore all of the possibilities, they probably work off of a checklist. You will get the best results if you answer the questions politely and succinctly.

I never had a problem until today; this morning I took the watch off the charger and noted the power was full, then when I got to work (maybe an hour later), the power was at 88%. I shrugged but by the end of the lunch hour, the battery was exhausted.

I haven't added any apps in the last few days. Yesterday, the battery lasted me throughout the day. No idea why.

I will contact Apple and see what I find.

My partner has the same issue with her S4 battery. I have a S3 along with my daughter a S4. We both do not have the same problem ours work fine. The watch has now been taken back to the Apple Store twice. They have run the test's and cannot find any fault with the battery. The last visit everything was reset including the IPhone 8. It still isn't working correctly. The watch is only 3 months old. I have the impression that we are being fobbed off by the Apple Store. Can anyone help with recommendations for the next step please?

So sad to see that apple is reading this forum but not responding!!! They were able to remove my post without telling me why (just an email saying your post has been removed, not that i violated some TOS). WOw.... Apple just keeps getting better and better.

This is a user-to-user forum. Apple's participation here is largely limited to making sure that order is maintained. They don't generally get involved in discussions.

Every email I've gotten when I've had a post removed has stated why.

It is remarkable that the best results are reached only by turning off apps, which are offered by Apple as new and better standards and to be better than others.

What to do when I am using the walkie talkie in the morning, forget to turn it off, and staying in the middle of nowhere at 2pm without charger and working watch. Ah, ok, I have my Casio watch with me and can also look for the time on my iPhone. But what when I want to make some exercises to reach my activity goal??? Poor manufacturer, latest 20130 your supremacy will be broken, the process already started
