Not Getting Missed Call Notification when on Another Call

Incoming call notification / alert not shown when I am on another call and the call is not registered as missed call. So I have no record of ever getting a call from that person unless they leave a voicemail, which people don't really do anymore. Person calling just gets sent straight to voicemail, but there is no indication on my phone that that someone tried to reach my number. My phone has been doing this since I upgraded to the iphone X (2 years ago) and has done this on multiple phones (I've gone through 2-3 iPhone Xs in the past 2 years) so I believe it is a setting or part of the software. I always have my phone updated. I have restarted & reset the phone many times.

Would love some help on this!

If you are not seeing or hearing a notification of a second call and calls are sent straight to voicemail, it sounds like your carrier does not support call waiting, or they do not have it turned on for your account. Contact your carrier.

You can also check on your iPhone, go to Settings>Phone>Call Waiting and see if there is a switch there and if it is turned on. When you first go there, you will see the circle while it takes a moment to get information from your carrier before the switch appears.
