I am iOS developer and my xcode was running very slow .So i had decided to upgrade my ram from 8 gb to 16gb . When i installed another 8 gb ram. it was working fine . I mean the booting process extra. But when i was working with those 2 rams after half an hour my mac get shut down or restart.
both rams are ddr3l -16000 mhz
i have tested ram one by one working good but if i put them together it starts creating trouble .
any help please
When you use two DIMMs of the EXACT same size, they interleave. The good news is that this slightly speeds up RAM access.
The bad news is that this slightly speeds up RAM access. If there is anything marginal about it, either DIMM could fail because it is being accessed slightly faster than before.
Everything AFTER 2010 models can run 16GB as two 8GB DIMMs. But none will run Faster than exact stated spec -- they become flaky.
In general, it's better to use same modules from same manufacturer, and even closest manufacturing date.
If you can find one of the same 8GB module as you have, try to test with it.
Today, i went to the hardware shop. He said mac memory socket is broken .
The max memory I think is 16GB. The article you refer to was published by Apple when the computer was first built and the market did not have 8GB RAM available. The computer can handle 2x8GB RAM.
If in doubt, OWC has upgrade kits available. If they do not have a 16GB kit available for the model/year computer in question then you are correct.

If you buy another Crucial and it does not work, they have a lifetime replacement warranty.
Their sticker on it is your proof-of-purchase. And you can return BOTH -- you do not need to do troubleshooting to the exact module.

I understand that but they will replace existing ram with new one . I mean if my problem didn’t resolved with another ram then i willn’t get my money back .
