Siri on HomePod stereo pair keeps switching sides

I keep switching which HomePod I want Siri to answer from, the right one, and it keeps switching back to the left. If I lose power it will work on the right a few times, then switch to left again. I’ve rebooted, updated, and silently screamed, all to no avail. Anyone seen this issue before and have a clue on making the switch permanent?

I could switch them physically but one is black and one is white and they are meant to be placed where they are now. Thanks in advance.

Just happened now when I wanted to make a call from the right one.

all you have to do to get it back to the one you want, is to press the top of it (the one you want) to ask Siri something. Then it will return to be the dominant one.
