changing an mp4a file to Mp3

I purchased a song, mp3, from iTunes and modified to a mp4a to use as a ring tone on my iPhone. I'd also like to listen to the whole song, however for some reason the song reverts to the mp4a version and only plays 30 seconds. Does anyone know how can I revert back to the song to its original mp3 file so I can the full length. I rang apple today and they couldn't help me! M

If you purchased it from the iTunes Store, you can download a fresh copy at no charge, [er these steps:

Note that the iTunes Store only sells songs in AAC format, not MP3. If it was really an MP3, figure out where you actually did purchase it. if it was Amazon, you can also download a fresh copy at no charge.
