Safari Login Problem

Safari normally autofills my usernames and passwords fine. But in the last two weeks it goes too far and also activates the ‘login’ button prematurely. It’s a problem on sites where I use 2FA. Safari enables the ‘login’ button before I can enter the code, thus creating a failed login. I went to Safari > Preferences > Passwords, and temporarily disabled ‘AutoFill user names and passwords’ feature. 2FA logins OK then, but I want it to work properly all the time with AutoFill enabled. Any suggestions? Thank you.
