itunes keeps asking for password

I know this is a common problem but couldn't see any posts on it since 2015. Whenever I open iTunes I have to enter my password at least three times, if not four or five, before it condescends to let me use it. It is not when I am purchasing anything, just looking around, or just opening iTunes. It is so irritating and the advice from Apple is always restart or check for updates. This does not work and it is obviously a glitch with iTunes. Drives me mad and has been going on for years. Any new remedies?

You're running the current version for your OS then. Signing out of the iTunes Store and back in again may potentially help, or stay signed out if you don't need access to the store and you purchase history. You can hold down the Command + Option keys when launching iTunes to run iTunes in its safe mode. Doing this once might also help with the repeated login request.
