I cannot start the assistant to migration in Windows 10because of Edge

When i try to start the assistant migration in Windows the system requires to close the app Edge. The Microsoft support told me that is not possible and suggested me to contact the apple support

iMac 21.5" 4K, macOS 10.14

FWIW, that doesn't make much sense. Edge is the Windows 10 browser and it's easy enough to quit and makes little sense you would have to do so to migrate data over.
