When I plug my phone into a cars CarPlay system is any data from my phone transferred to the car? If not does that mean I can plug my phone into any car with CarPlay and not have to worry about my data being copied? When I’ve finished using another cars CarPlay can I just unplug it or do I have to “forget the phone” on the car? Thank You!

Correct - CarPlay runs entirely from your iPhone. I have used my iPhone in several CarPlay enabled cars and no data is left behind other than potentially a "connection" listing that my iPhone had been connected at some point.

To my knowledge, yes. The only thing you would see is the vehicle listed on your phone under CarPlay, and you can remove it from there.
So I’m safe to plug my phone into anyone’s CarPlay without anything being transferred?
